the oval

I've been trying since I moved here to find a gym to join. Well, I solved my problem. The main reason why I want a gym is so that I can run without freezing off my appendages- which happens if you aren't careful up here in the great white north. I was getting sick of calling gyms and having some beefy guy on the other end trying to swing me what they call a deal, but what I call being ripped off. And plus- my house ins't really that close to any of these so called gyms.

It finally dawned on me to check out the indoor tracks around here, and boy did I find an indoor track! I am now a runner at the Olympic Oval at the University of Calgary. It is AWESOME! They have public running just about every night and it is cheaper than a gym pass (by a bit). The running track goes around the speed skating track and in the middle of that are two areana's- one for hockey and one for speed skating/figure skating. So as I run I can check out all the hotties on their skates or all the little kids during public skating. Another plus is that it feels like I'm running outside on a crisp fall day due to the ice. And there are also bleacher stairs I can run! Yes. The atmosphere there is really fun. Lots of people run and skate there and then they have road biking people there that make their bikes stationary and cycle with a computer screen thing infront of them. It's totally inspirational as well because they did olympic speed skating there in '88 so the walls are draped in banners of athletes and flags from all around the world. I love it.

That's my exciting news for the weekend. I think I'll go for a run there tomorrow afternoon. YES!

and oh- my house is really close to the oval. yes x 3.
