what can i say?

because i feel entirely too large to do anything reasonably productive (you know, like getting ready for a child or something) these days (how i make it out to work, i do not know) i spent my weekend indulging myself in baking, stripes, settlers, and lunch with friends. all reasonably easy things to do with a large and heavy basket ball attached to your midsection. my nesting needs to kick in or this baby ain't gonna have a nothing to wipe his tush with- i mean, there will be nothing for me or dan to wipe his tush with. who is letting me have a baby anyways?

moving on

i had a lot of fun spending entirely too much money on various types of white flour and chocolate, and then i spent entirely too much time tediously measuring dry and wet ingredients on my kitchen scale and chopping/grating chocolate to make the following chocolate chip cookie:

i had read and read and read about this recipe and then i dreamed about it so of course i had no other choice but to make them (didn't really dream about it, excuse the hyperbole). but could i really help myself? no. the recipe even gave me an excuse to use my fancy fleur de sel as a finishing salt! it was very satisfying. i have not baked this exactly in quite sometime. in fact, when something doesn't turn out and i'm mad about it, dan's first question is "did you follow the recipe?", to which i usually reply with a "yes, but...". so if you have some time on your hands and some spare $$ in your grocery budget to buy flours and chocolates, and perhaps something to procrastinate- i urge you to make this recipe in its exactness! they are good, promise, and great for giving away (happy birthday ra-ra!).

also, instead of getting ready to wipe cute little tushes, i strolled on down to our local ikea with the ladies where i purchased the most wonderful of throws. it now sits at the foot of my bed and i think our little don draper with his infant vision of 20/400 will just love the contrasting black and white, so maybe i am nesting? probably not though. i still need to turn the bathroom into a nursery.... ha! life in a one bedroom.

and then i really love settlers of catan, but people, settlers of america is where it is at. it is like playing two and a half catan games all at once. i won by a mere margin friday night, oh the memories! so really, just bits and bobs to report of this week. maybe more tomorrow though? dan dan and i both have the day off. he keeps wanting me to see tin-tin with him, but that stop motion animation looks like dead people. ewe, gross.

i also started playing words with friend's.
