Over the weekend...

Let it be known here and everywhere that Thanks has been given! And it turns out that roasting a turkey isn't as difficult as you think it might be. It basically consists of putting a bird in a hot oven, as my dear friend Amber taught me over the weekend. We had the pleasure of going up to Deep Creek Lake in Maryland to our friends' parents' lake house and it was sooooo relaxing! It was also really nice to hang out with adults in the evenings after all the Littles went to bed. Dan and I haven't really done that for about, oh, 8 months. We are chicken parents, what can I say? Jude seems to be learning how to sleep better which came in handy on this trip and I guess it is also handy for the rest of life too so go Jude! We kept trying and trying to force Jude into the way we wanted him to sleep which was not working for him. My first big parenting lesson (I think) is to just let your kid sleep how they want to and in his own time he will succeed at it and also, don't be jealous that some kids learn faster than others. That will get you nowhere. Wait, we are talking about turkey here! And there is ours, nice and juicy in all her glory.

And there we are after we all had seconds (maybe thirds?) discussing who knows what while trying to stay awake after all that tryptophan. Maybe I should have been giving Jude turkey from the very beginning? Will remember in case we ever have another child.

Over the holiday weekend Jude turned 8 months old! I went to get him from his morning nap today and as he was giggling at me, I thought 'who the heck is this huge child?!!' I keep wondering where my little infant went, but I know. He went the way of all infants, up! up! and up! and turned into this sweet squishy baby who loves to flash his toothy grin while being chased down the hallway due to threats of tickles. Oh babies. They are so sweet. Jude is so much fun right now.
