when sisters come to live with me...

Yep, Nunu has left The Corn Children and is now Under The Sea with me and The Husband. We tried to clear out Dan's bedroom for her which has equalled a dwelling space probably similar to that of Harry Potter when he lived under the stairs. Nunu will be swimming away for a little bit to write some board exam or something important like that, but she'll be back in a week or so to continue the making of delicious food with me and for me. Hee hee.

It started out with these muffins I made in preparation for our breakfast time. I recommend these muffins, but make sure to add more boiling water to the bran. The recipe calls for 1/3c. boiling water, but hello, bran is so dry and sawdusty, it needs almost one full cup of boiling water. If you do that and instead make your own buttermilk using leftover whipping cream that is in your fridge by adding some vinegar to it... mmm mmmm yum. I realize that is really high fat. It was the first time I did that. But to my defense I did not want to have to go buy buttermilk when I had perfectly fine ingredients that needed to be used up. You can also add a little less sugar like I did and use applesauce if you want in place of butter. I didn't do that because I like butter. Pioneer Woman taught me to embrace it.

Then after a long day of scrambling up a mountain and wandering around Banff with brother and the husband (which was v. fun, thanks for the invite Anders!), Nunu made us this for dinner. Mmmmm good.

Then we got really naughty and made Betina's Hot Fudge Sauce to eat over vanilla ice cream. Now, that stuff is just trouble with a capital T.

Evil Evil Hot Fudge

1 1/2c. chocolate (of your choice)
2 2/3c. evaporated milk
4c. icing sugar
1/2c. butter

Melt in sauce pan over med heat. Bring to a boil for 10mins, occasionally stirring. Remove from heat and add 1/2 tsp vanilla. Let cool. Keep refrigerated.

And to our defense here, we only made a half batch of this stuff and there is still lots left even after taking it to the Inlaws for dessert. We used super yummy dark dark chocolate. Mmmmm.....

Nunu has landed and perhaps an extra 5 lbs on my arse has as well - we egg each other on when it comes to cooking and baking. I could probably stop it if I wanted to but geeze... why would I want to do that? Good thing for all this running.

2 woot-woots!:
