Six Weeks old, people!

I'm going to be honest, I have a pretty good idea. I think I will one day write a satire on parenting book and the title will be 'Pay Me $17 And I'll Help You Feel Like An Incompetent Parent'. Really, though, don't you think it would sell like hot cakes? The title is inspired by all the books I am reading about babies and then, obviously, how they make me feel when I can't do what they say. People always say that kids don't come with instruction manuals, but they do (!) and they just make you feel like crap. Can I get an amen from the crowd?!!

Anyways, baby Jude is getting bigger and bigger. He is already 6 weeks old! Wow-za! The other day I was just drinking in his cuteness as he was nursing and I was all 'what the heck, I'm nursing myself!'. Weird. Sometimes I find that he really looks like me, other times he looks just like Dan, but most of the times he looks like Jude. It was just a little creepy, not a lot.

He is such a sweet little boy, and phew, now that his infant acne is clearing up he is feeling a little more confident about leaving the house. And leave the house we did! To a BBQ Birthday party we went and why is it that I just can't help myself but to say words like 'penis' and 'boobs' in front of my conservative friends? Yes, I'm that girl, sometimes I try not to be, but my first public appearance since the birth and look what happens. Trying to help the mormons be more open with such topics one BBQ at a time. Send me an invite if you'd like me at your next gathering!

ps- the other day Dan accidentally used his man body wash as shampoo- it was really funny.

3 woot-woots!:

Have confidence in yourself! Do what works for you and Jude, and don't come into mothering from a point of 'should'. They always tell us that Mothering is natural and divine, and then they tell us exactly how it is supposed to look and feel. Well. I've decided that if it is, indeed, natural and divine, then I'm just going to do it the way that works for me. Parenting books and "Mothers who Know" talks be damned. You are Jude's Momma. Read for advice, but don't let the contradictions reflect on you as a person or a Mom. It's a learning process. Every moment of parenting is a learning process. I'm almost 10 years into the game, and I learn things about me, my kids, and our interactions every day. I get in the most trouble, though, when I doubt myself, my instincts and trade them in for what someone else thinks I 'should' be doing.

I would totally buy your book, P.
1. Because I agree. 2. Because I think you're hilarious. 3. Because I love you!

Happy mothering--Jude is adorable and those chin rolls...love!
