I don't post that often about how sweet my dear husband is, mostly because I don't want people to get ill while reading. If I posted about how much I love him and how great he as much as I should then you, dear cute reader, would be reading about how he cooks me egg on toast almost every morning or how he helps me pack my lunch so I can get out the door on time, or how he is just so freaking great every freaking day. Sometimes it is all I can do to hold back, but this time, this time I'm letting loose. Hang in there!
I learned this story about Dan just this week and it melted my heart. It may melt yours as well. Be warned. When Dan was 7 and still a normal height human being, he was, and still is, quite the scriptorian. This can be attributed to his crazy memory. If you ask the kid what he did on March 18, 1998, he'll think about it for half a minute and then tell you... tell you everything about that day 11 years ago. It is actually a bit freaky. This clearly illustrates that the man can remember where a scripture is found and could do so since the beginning of time, or so it seems.
One Sunday in the summer of 1990, when Dan was seven, primary was having a scripture chase. . . or something like it... I can only imagine what it would be like with a bunch of 7 year olds. Those other kids really had no chance. Dan smoked them. He was points and points ahead of everyone. So of course he wins and this kid, Joseph C., was sad he didn't, and also he didn't get any points at all. He was really sad, maybe even crying. So Dan talked to him and from the bottom of his little boy heart he told Joseph C. that he could have all of his points and Joseph C. started really crying, hugged Dan, and said "Dan, you're my friend". Then they played together that next week. The primary people cried and so did Dan's mom when she found out... and maybe me too.. I don't know.
There it is. An historic example of the sweetness of my lover. I love him and I have a sneaking suspicion that President Monson would love this story.
2 woot-woots!:
Such a sweetie.
Don't tell any more of these stories. My heart is melted.
But worse.... the other Sisters of Relief will realize what a catch he is and try to sabotage your marriage and steal him.
P. Monson would love that one.
Points were shared... Tears were shed... New friendships and bonds of love were forged. "God gave of memories that we might have June roses in the Decembers of our lives."
(Dan will remember the quote better than I.)
