First

Sometimes I just have to laugh at what is on this blog. I mean, laugh and love all at the same time, you know? I know I'm not the first person to ever become a mother, or get married, or have a life, but sometimes that's what it seems like over here. Please rest assured that I hardly take myself seriously at all. But sometimes just a little bit.

Firsts are a pretty awesome thing though and it is fun to live them, to record them, and to watch others do the same. That's the thing about blogging. We get to spy on all these siblings/family members/strangers/friends/people-we-love-to-hate experience their firsts and every time it's a little thrilling because maybe it reminds us of what it was like or maybe what it could be like. Oh life! Over the past little bit I've been seriously considering going private because really what is the point? This is for me. But then the voyeur in me suggests otherwise. Are blogs better than movies? Books? I can't decide. Maybe though, considering my favorite genre is Historical Fiction- it feels like with every new blog I read I get a new book. My favorite! But be very careful not to compare yourself to people who get lots of free crap. Cause, honey, I just can't even relate but still love you.

So those are my deep blogging thoughts. Mostly I just want my sisters and brother to see Baby Jude and all of his firsts these days. Because he is so freaking adorable. And I have this love for him, as all mothers do, that just explodes out of my chest and I feel like I can smear it on anyone within a 5 mile radius. That's kind of gross sounding. When someone tells me how handsome/cute/adjective he is, even if they are just saying it because that is what you say about babies, oh how my heart swells! That person is my new best friend and I want to have them over for warm brownies and tell them about how even my son's boogies are adjective and they would agree with me.

Oh babies. Oh life.

So here is baby Jude, having a few more firsts. I must say that seconds are maybe not as cute - like when it is a second tooth pushing out and he is crabby pants for a second time. Cute the first time. May the Lord bless Acetaminophen.

Here Baby Gabe and Baby Jude swear their friendship to each other for the first time with some special handshakes, if you know what I mean (Kassie's joke, I cannot take credit). Gabe's mother has been my dear friend for what seems like forever, she is 20 days my senior and Gabe is 16 days Jude's senior. Just as it should be. And would you believe that almost 6 month old babies behave almost identically? Uncanny this development stuff!

The weather in these parts is cooling off and we have been hauling Jude's (and my) white butt outside for tummy time on the grass. He touched grass for the first time! And it was absolutely thrilling. I never would have thought!

And so it begins. My tidy husband making sure the baby does not eat his first blade of grass. Oh these boys. I will love them forever and I think that it will always be just as thrilling as it was at first.

i absolutely could not help using 'first' so much, please forgive me
